Have you ever thought about how heavy a load coming out of your washer is compared with the same load when it comes out of the dryer? On average, a load of laundry contains about a gallon of water, and this is what makes up the difference. Now imagine taking a gallon of water and pouring it out inside your home. You wouldn’t even dream of that, would you? If your dryer isn’t vented correctly, however, that is exactly what you are doing. The water in your laundry is turned into steam in the dryer, but that steam needs to be vented outside of your home, otherwise, it can cause water damage, mold and other issues that you would have to deal with.
You should run the duct for the dryer vent as straight as possible. Otherwise there could be a buildup of lint in the duct, which could pose a fire hazard.
