Wildfire is a great risk in many parts of the country. An out of control wildfire can move amazingly fast, and sometimes homeowners have very little warning from when the fire is at a safe distance away until they need to leave their home behind or risk being caught in a sea of flames.
If you want to keep your home safe in the event of a wildfire where you live, some preparation can greatly increase the odds.
The main concern should be to remove anything that can end up being fuel for a fire. Dried branches and leaves should not be allowed to pile up near your home. If you have a fence, it could be a spot where the wind piles up leaves which would be perfect fuel for a fire. The fence itself could also be a problem if it is made from wood, especially if it is older and dried out. Removing it, or replacing it with a nonflammable fence would be a better idea.
