When installing an air conditioner in your home, you might not have the option to have central AC. This can be a hassle, but the option is to have a window-mounted air conditioner. These units come in a wide range of sizes, and they can be as big as 23,000 BTU, but with such big units, there is a need to be extra careful. If you ever installed a window-mounted AC unit, you are aware that they are precarious until you have them firmly in place. The riskiest part of the process is when you are installing and removing it, and for some of us, that might happen twice a year.

This is why it is so important to follow all the instructions for how to install it, and not skip any of the safety features. Often the bigger units will come with brackets that will support them from underneath, but there is no reason not to install an additional bracket to be extra safe, especially if you live above the ground floor.
